This trip is for nature-loving travellers, who want to get to know the unique landscape in West and Central Cuba with its natural beauty and also spent some time with swimming and relaxing on one of Cuba’s most beautiful islands.

Trip Details

1st day: Havana

Arrive in Havana, relax and get to know the beautiful old town Habana Vieja. Stroll though the alleys with numerous colonial buildings from the baroque and neoclassic era many interesting places and live music. You can also walk along the seaside promenadeMalecon or try culinary highlights in a typical Cuban restaurant. You are free for the evening . Why don’t you try a Mojito in one of the many bars. You can also go to the fortress Fortaleza de la Cabana where the cannon shot ceremony takes place every day to mark the closure Havana’s harbour (optional)

Accomodation: Hotel Comodoro or similar / or private accomodation.

2nd day: Havana

Breakfast. In the morning sightseeing tour through Habana Vieja, founded in 1515. Visit of the fortress Morro Cabana. Walk from Arms Square to Templete, Hotel Ambos Mundos, Fortress Real Force Castle to the palace of the Cuban Arts and the artisan market at the cathedral square and the Bodeguita de Medico. Visit the rum factory Bocoy.
Lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon you continue your sightseeing tour and visit for example the Capitol, Parque Central, Parque de la Fraternidad, Plaza de la Revolution, Malecon, University. Return to the Hotel. (The whole program has no strict order and might be subject to changes)

Accomodation: Hotel Comodoro or similar / or private accomodation. Dinner in the hotel. Free evening.
Suggestion for the evening: Visit the world-famous Cabaret Tropicana (optional). Bookable with your whole booking with us or with your local giude.

3rd day: Havana - Pinar del Río – Viñales - Havana

Breakfast. Departure to the province of Pinar del Rio in West Cuba, a unique landscpape with natural beauty and the world famous tobacco cultivation area. Tour to the Vinales - landscape and on the way a stop at the beautiful farm El Paraiso. This special place is located in the heart of the Rosaria mountain range, which was declared biosphere reserve by the UNESCO. A gigantic lanscape with the remarkable prototype of the Cuban karst valleys in the Sierra de los óreganos opens up to you, which is generally known for its tropic Mogotes - low mountains with flat peaks. On the way you pass wide tobacco fields of the world’s best tobacco. You will have lunch in a local restaurant. Vinales’ surrounding area: visit „Palenque de los Cimorrones“ (place of refuge of escpaged slaves) and a huge prehistoric mural on a Mogote with prehistoric painting imitations. Visit the Indian cave “Cueva del Indio“. You have the possibility to cross the cave on a river which is flowing through. Dinner in the hotel and free evening.

4th day: Havana – Cienfuegos - Trinidad

Breakfast. Departure to Cienfuegos. Stop at Finca Fiesta Campesina, a typical Cuban farm.
Drive to Cienfuegos and lunch at a local restaurant.
Cienfuegos was founded in 1514 and is situated at a beautiful bay. It’s the most important economic centre of Central Cuba. Look forward to a scenic city tour in this beautiful city.
The Teatro Tomas Terry was opened in 1895 with the sounds of Aida. The splendid building has room for 920 people. You visit the Casa de Bienes Culturales (culture house) and the cathedral La Purísima Concepción. The cathedral features 12 wonderful windows represent the 12 Apostels and was finished in 1870. Another highlight is Palacio del Valle, which was built in the begining of the 20th century, and today houses a museum.

You go on to Trinidad.
Accomodation: Hotel La Ronda (or similiar) / or private accommodation. Dinner at the hotel. Half Board.

5th day: Trinidad - catamaran trip

Breakfast. Today you go on a catamaran and can enjoy a wonderful sea safari to small islands located at the south coast. You can go snorkling at wonderful coral reefs. Lunch on board.
In the afternoon return to the hotel, where you can enjoy a beautiful day at the beach.

Accommodation: Hotel La Ronda (or similar) / or private accommodation. Dinner at the hotel. Half Board.
Tip for the evening: You can go out in Trinidad and enjoy a night out with lots of Salsa.

6th day: Trinidad – Topes del Collantes

Breakfast. Departure. Today you experience Trinidad de Cuba, another highlight of your trip, which is one of the best preserved colonial cities of America. The city was founded in 1514 and an important centre of slave trade, the sugar industry and a cultural centre. Go on a tour through a city where the city seems to have stopped. The city of Trinidad de Cuba is part of the UNESCO world heritage. You visit the Plaza Mayor, which is surrounded by numerous historic buildings and the church Parroquial Mayor de la Santisíma Trinidad where you can find a famous statue of Christ. Also on your agenda are the Museo Romántico and the typical Cuban bar La Canchanchara. You will have lunch in a local restaurant before you continue your trip through the historic Valle de los Ingenios (sugar mill valley)

Onward journey to Topes de Collantes in the Escambray tropic mountain range.

Accommodation: Hotel 3* Los Helechos (or similiar) / or private accommodation. Dinner at the hotel.

7th day: Topes del Collantes

Breakfast. Excursion to the beautiful nature park Guanayara and hike in the Escambray mountains. You experience one of Cuba’s most spectacular sceneries with amazing views. Walk on the legendary path of Centinelas del Rio Melodioso through the overwhelming tropic vegetation and dive into one of the waterfalls or cool ponds after the hike. (If there is enough time). Lunch in a local restaurant.
Return to the hotel. Please bring sturdy shoes and a daypack for your personal belongings that you can use for the hike.

Accommodation: Hotel 3* Los Helechos (or similiar) / or private accommodation. Dinner at the hotel.

8th day: Topes Collantes – Santa Clara – Remedios – Cayo Santa Maria

Breakfast. First stop today is Santa Clara, the capital of the province Villa Clara, which is also known as Che’s city. That’s where legendary guerilla leader Che Guevara won the battle which sped up his victory against Fulgencio Batistas tyranny. There is no way to avoid the Che Guevara museum where you can also find his and his fellow fighters’mortal remains.
Lunch in a local restaurant.
On you onward journey to Cayo Santa Maria you visit the well preserved colonial city San Jose de los Remedios
You drive over a 48km long stone dam through the sea to the island Cayo Las Brujas and Cayo Santa Maria with its beautiful and untouched white beaches.

Accomodation: Hotel Starfish in Cayo Santa Maria / or private accommodation. Dinner at the hotel. All inclusive. 

9th-11th day: Cayo Santa Maria

Our accomodations are usually 2-4* hotels following local standards. The hotels are usually centtrally located, but this may differ from city to city. All rooms have their own toilet and bathroom and are usually double-rooms. If single travellers want to book a single room a surcharge is applied. Otherwise they will share a double room with a fellow traveller of the same sex. The breakfast is usually included, but differences can occur.
